Grok 4 spotted ahead of launch with special coding features
Elon Musk-funded xAI is skipping Grok 3.5 and releasing Grok 4 after Independence Day in the United States, and it could be the best model from the company.
Grok 3.5 was originally supposed to be a huge leap from the previous models, but xAI later made several changes to the training model, and that warranted a new version.
As spotted by testers on X and confirmed independently by BleepingComputer, xAI Console, which allows developers to access the Grok API, now has references to Grok 4 availability posts.
"We're proud to bring you Grok 4 access on the API. Grok 4 currently supports text modality, with vision, image generation, and other capabilities coming soon," one of the messages read.
It also says that Grok 4 (grok-4-0629) would be the company's new model with "Thinking—Bigger and Smarter" features.
"Our latest and greatest flagship model, offering unparalleled performance in natural language, math, and reasoning — the perfect jack of all trades. Grok 4 Code (grok-4-code-0629) — Engineering Intelligence Unleashed — a model purpose-built to be your coding companion. Ask it questions about your code or embed directly into your code editor," the company noted.
It also looks like you'll be able to directly jump onto Cursor AI from the Grok Console and start vibe coding your apps or websites.
